BRUT CUVEE SPECIALLE 2022- DOMAINE KARANIKA

A perfect world class sparkling wine
21.20 19.27

When Laurens Hartman and his wife Annete came to Greece from Holland and planted their vineyard in Amynteo this is precisely what they had in mind. A world class sparkling wine from Xinomavro that would be able to compete heads on with Champagne in the world markets. The result is totally fantastic.  Brut Cuvee Specialle is made mainly from Xinomavro with a small addition of Assyrtiko. The vines which are more than 40 years old are cultivated under the principles of biodynamic and organic cultivation. For the second fermentation the méthode traditionnelle is used (the method used in France for Champagne production). It is not by coincidence that international champagne experts, such as Tom Stevenson, offer amazing reviews for this sparkling wine which will be the jewel in your cellar.

The precious Assyrtivo grapes come from a single vineyard in Pyrgos which is 150 years old. The vines are non irrigated and have been totally stressed by the islands weather conditions and provide very low yields but very concentrated fruit. The wine remains for 11 months in stainless steel tanks for fermentation and maturation and then for one year in the bottle where it ages beautifully. The result is a mind blowing experience. An impressive wine with full body, sharp acidity and superb aromas. If you decide to add it to your cellar you have to act early since production is very limited.
