About the winery
Diamantakis Winery is located in the eastern foothills of mount Psiloritis, not far from the city of Heraklion Crete, at the south end of Greece. The area is called Malevizi and lies 450 meters above sea level at the outskirts of the village of Kato Asites. The winery is a small family run business, founded in 2007 by 3 members of the family of Nicholaos Diamantakis, Ioannis and Michalis, who are third generation vine growers that bring in their many years of experience in vine cultivation and Zacharias who has studied oenology and is in charge of winemaking and marketing. With 70 original acres of privately owned vineyards that were in family hands for years and another 25 acres that were added in 2010, the winery maintains control of its production and is slowly increasing capacity. Always with an eye on quality and with a passion for creating great wines especially from local indigenous varieties such as Vidiano and Mandilari. Diamantakis Winery has received numerous awards for its exceptional wines. They came from some of the most famous international wine competitions including Decanter World Wine Awards, Vienna Wine Challenge, International Wine Challenge, Les Citadelles Du Vin, Challenge International Du Vin and Concours Mondial Du Bruxelles.
