Everyone agrees that Apostolos Thymiopoulos is a real artist when it comes to the art of serious wine making since all of the products he has launched so far have become great hits in Greece and abroad. This time he steps out of his Naoussa terroir to explore Rapsani with a blend which combines 3 important local varieties: Xinomavro (50%), Stavroto (15%) and Krassato (35%). They come from older vines which have not been irrigated and are cultivated with low yields. The must remains first in stainless stell tanks and then in oak barrels for 14 months. Xinomavro, the star variety of Greece’s north, has many different expressions. Rapsani tends to be more fruity with velvet tannins. Rapsani Terra Petra seems to round up the edges of explosive xinomavro into a chic and more delicate red wine that can be enjoyed anytime.
