Domaine Skouras is an amazing winery in the area of Argos with a well designed space, immaculate tasting hall and very interesting cellar worth of visiting. George Skouras is a perfectionist and you sense that throughout the beautiful building which is full of authentic works of art, but also in the elegant wines that he creates. Peplo 2019, which really means veil, is a delicate premium rose wine which consists of Agiorgitiko from mythical Nemea, Syrah from rich Argolida and Mavrofilero from magical Mantineia. These 3 varieties come with different vinification processes which bring their own special characteristics to the final product. Agiorgitiko is vinified in original acacia barrels, Syrah in stainless steel tanks and Mavrofilero in amphora, the type and shape that was used in ancient Greece. The vinification of Mavrofilero in amphora is where the name peplo comes from since the skins are put in veils (peplo) for their further contribution with aromas and colour.
