About the winery
The Tatsis family story of fine winemaking starts as early as 1924, when the grandparents of the current owners settled in Goumenissa as refugees from Eastern Rumelia. Their first vineyards located in Limpaskeri and Gerakona, in a very promising location, offered grapes of high quality from non irrigated soils. Christos Tatsis, the next generation in this family of traditional winemakers and his sons Perikles and Stergios took over with new ideas and a new philosophy that focused more on organic and environmentally friendly methods of cultivation. In 1998 the vineyards received organic certification and from 2002 they are cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. With low yields, ranging from 300 to 700 kg per 0,1 hectare, limited interventions and fully natural methods of viticulture and vinification they have created great wines that should be found in every connoisseur’s cellar.
