Naoussa received its PDO status in 1971. Vineyards cover an area of about 700 hectares located on the south-east slopes of Mount Vermion, at an altitude of 150 to 350 metres. Naoussa is known for its frequent northern cold winds, rainfall and hot summer months with droughts and high temperatures. PDO Naousa produces great red wines made of the famous Xinomavro variety grapes with full body and rich taste, ruby colour and an amazing bouquet of red fruit and spices. The red V.Q.P.R.D. Naoussa wines are mainly dry, but can also be semi-dry and semi-sweet.
